Pitt Ohio, has made an exciting move by buying Sutton Transport, another trucking company based in the Midwest.
Sutton Transport, located in Wisconsin, has 13 terminals. These terminals are in Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin. Sutton owns 384 trucks and has 455 drivers. On top of that, the company employs more than 800 people, including workers at docks and in offices.
This deal will make Pitt Ohio one of the top trucking companies in the country. It is now the 12th-largest less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier in the United States.
Even though Sutton Transport is now part of Pitt Ohio, it will continue to run its business separately for a while. Both companies plan to join their networks fully in 2025, which means they will share resources to improve their services. However, two terminals in Missouri will become part of Pitt Ohio sooner, in just 45 days.
Pitt Ohio, based in Pittsburgh, has been in the trucking business for many years. It already has a strong network of 25 terminals that cover areas like the Northeast, the mid-Atlantic, and the Midwest. Over the years, Pitt Ohio has grown by working with or buying other trucking companies.
Right now, Pitt Ohio has more than 3,400 workers. These include drivers, warehouse staff, and office teams who all work hard to keep things running smoothly. In 2023, the company earned over $900 million. Now, with Sutton Transport on board, Pitt Ohio’s total income will go over $1 billion.
Pitt Ohio doesn’t just focus on trucking. It also offers other helpful services, like warehousing, supply chain management, and truckload shipping. This means customers can get more than just one kind of service from Pitt Ohio, making it a one-stop shop for many shipping needs.
With the new trucks, terminals, and team members from Sutton, Pitt Ohio is now better prepared to handle more business and help more customers.
