Tam will deliver the presentation “Ground handling and warehouse innovation and automation: An insider’s perspective” on the second day of the summit. She will discuss:
Digitalization efforts to improve on-the-ground efficiencies; Automated warehouse features and robotics; and Automation to help combat the labor crisis.
The ground handler Hactl has made many tech advancements in the past few years, including installing an intelligent cargo thermal detection system at locations within Hactl’s SuperTerminal 1 facility, employing security robots to patrol its facilities, implementing dashboards to increase digitalization, and opening automated service kiosks to improve efficiency and reduce paper.
In May, the company was one of the first ground handlers to be recognized in IATA’s Enhanced GSE Recognition Program, which encourages the introduction of enhanced ground support equipment (GSE) technologies into daily operations. Enhanced GSE promotes safety and sustainability.
“Technology is a game-changer,” Tam told Air Cargo Next. “Tapping the full power of technological advancements and innovations, ground handlers are not only enhancing productivity and quality, but also reshaping capabilities and setting new standards for operational excellence in cargo handling.”
Tam has worked at Hactl for nearly a decade and has served as head of performance enhancement for more than a year. She leads the exploration of technologies to maintain and improve effective and quality service at the cargo terminal. Prior to that, she spent more than eight years as senior manager of commercial and business development.
