Mastio’s 2024 survey featured over 1,600 phone interviews conducted with shippers.
Daylight Transport has been recognized as the top overall less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier in Mastio & Co.’s annual value and loyalty survey. According to a report released on Tuesday, Old Dominion Freight Line once again achieved top honors among national carriers.
The top five carriers in the overall rankings included Averitt Express at No. 2, Old Dominion at No. 3, Peninsula at No. 4, and Dayton Freight Lines at No. 5. Averitt Express had previously won this category last year, while Peninsula claimed the title in 2022.
Estes secured the No. 2 spot among national carriers for the second consecutive year. ABF Freight, a subsidiary of ArcBest (NASDAQ: ARCB), improved its position, moving up two spots to No. 3. XPO (NYSE: XPO) maintained its No. 4 ranking, while Saia (NASDAQ: SAIA) dropped two spots to No. 5.
This year’s survey evaluated 164 carriers, with only 23 receiving enough ratings to qualify for the list. Mastio gathered around 5,000 insights from 1,608 LTL shippers through phone interviews with key decision-makers, conducted from June to the end of September.
Daylight Transport was also named the leading inter-regional carrier, followed by Averitt Express and R&L Carriers.
Ward Trucking earned top honors in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic category, while Dayton Freight Lines ranked No. 1 among Great Lakes/Midwest carriers. Southeastern Freight Lines was recognized as the top carrier in the South, and Peninsula took the title for the West.
Ward Trucking and ABF both made significant strides in the overall rankings, climbing six positions to No. 6 and No. 12, respectively.
