DAT Freight & Analytics announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Trucker Tools, a capacity visibility platform. This acquisition will improve three critical areas of the trucking industry: carrier engagement, load optimization, and fraud prevention.
Trucker Tools was previously owned by ASG, an Alpine Investors portfolio company. While the financial details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, one thing is clear—Trucker Tools will continue operating under its existing brand and leadership team.
DAT’s CEO, Jeff Clementz, explained that they are always looking for value-added services that they can provide along with their two core product lines.
Clementz joined DAT as chief product officer in 2023 before stepping into the CEO role. His focus has been on creating customer-first innovations that solve real problems in logistics.
As part of the deal, Trucker Tools’ CEO, Kary Jablonski, will take on a dual role. She’s now the vice president and general manager of Trucker Tools and Broker Growth at DAT. This means she’ll oversee the continued growth of Trucker Tools while working closely with DAT’s team on new solutions for brokers.
Kary is optimistic about the future of Trucker Tools within DAT. She emphasized the shared vision between the two companies, especially around customer-centric decision-making.
Trucker Tools: A Growing Network
Trucker Tools has been making waves in the logistics industry since its launch in 2013. The platform is designed to simplify freight operations for brokers and carriers alike.
Over the years, it’s grown to support over 750 brokers and connect with more than 350,000 drivers. In 2021, the company was acquired by ASG, which helped it scale even further.
The acquisition is exciting as DAT believes this strategic move will help its customers ride the wave of recovery. The goal is to equip brokers and carriers with the tools they need to succeed in 2025.
Tackling Industry Fraud
Fraud has become a growing concern in the logistics sector. DAT recognizes this and is taking action to protect its customers.
Clementz highlighted the importance of preventing cybercrimes, which can disrupt operations. The acquisition of Trucker Tools adds another layer of security. With more advanced tools, DAT can better identify and prevent fraudulent activities.
For brokers, carriers, and shippers, this acquisition means access to better technology, stronger security, and improved service. Customers can expect enhanced tracking capabilities and more efficient capacity sourcing. Brokers will benefit from innovations that streamline their workflows.
By leveraging their expertise and resources, Lading Logistics aims to provide efficient and reliable international shipping and logistics solutions for their clients.
