Supernova Airlines, owned by Ukraine’s private parcel delivery company Nova Poshta, successfully completed its first charter cargo flight on November 10, flying a Boeing 737-800 freighter from Budapest to Chisinau, according to a LinkedIn post by Supernova Airlines.
The flight enabled testing the synchronisation of procedures and technologies for delivering parcels and cargo to recipients in Moldova.
The flight was commissioned by the parent company, Nova Global. The next phase will involve testing the transit of goods from Supernova aircraft to Ukraine via road transport, mentions the post.
“Supernova Airlines plans further development of the route network and a gradual increase in the number of flights to meet the needs of the NOVA (Nova Poshta) group of companies and the growing demand for cargo air transportation.”
The airline is gearing up to launch scheduled flights to the US, marking a significant milestone in its expansion plans. It already holds an Air Operator’s Certificate issued by the Ukrainian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and has secured European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Third Country Operator (TCO) approval, which is mandatory for non-European carriers to operate within European airspace. Additionally, the airline is actively working on obtaining the necessary operating permits from both the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which are crucial for initiating operations in the US market.
The company was established on October 1, 2021. According to the latest data from Planespotters.net, its fleet includes one operational Boeing 737-800 freighter.
