Frankfurt airport operator Fraport has appointed Denis de Farias Duarte as the new head of the cargo development team.
De Farias Duarte will take up the new role on January 1 and will be mainly responsible for the further development of the cargo business at Frankfurt Airport.
He has 25 years of experience in the airfreight and logistics industry and is moving within the Fraport Group from handler FCS Frankfurt Cargo Services. He has also worked for Lufthansa Cargo, Qatar Airways and Lufthansa Consulting.
He joined FCS in Frankfurt as a senior sales manager in April.
“I am happy we were able to recruit Denis de Farias Duarte for this position. Denis is a proven cargo professional with a track record of more than 25 years of international experience in the airfreight and logistics industry,” said Simone Schwab, senior vice president aviation and cargo development at Fraport.
He succeeds Max Conrady who has held this position for six years and is leaving the company at his own request.
Fraport is currently investing in digitalisation and developing new cargo areas at Frankfurt Airport as it expects volumes to increase to around 3m tonnes per year by 2040.
The airport operator has developed a new cargo masterplan split into three areas – further investment in digitalisation to create efficiency; the redesign of the CargoCity South Area; and the development of a new LogisticsHub West.
