Emirates has appointed Badr Abbas as divisional senior vice president for Emirates SkyCargo to fill the gap left by Nabil Sultan back in the first quarter of the year.
Abbas will begin his new role on July 8, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive, said in a statement on July 5.
Abbas has been working for Emirates for over 24 years. His most recent role within the company has been senior vice president – commercial operations (Africa).
Before this, he was senior vice president – commercial operations (Far East) and in the years prior to that role he was vice president – commercial operations (UAE & Oman) and vice president – Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Abbas takes up the role following the departure of previous Emirates SkyCargo divisional senior vice president, Nabil Sultan, who left the job – and the cargo division – in February this year to become executive VP – passenger sales and country management at Emirates on March 1.
Emirates told Air Cargo News at the time that no appointment had been made, with no interim divisional senior vice president appointment made public.
The airline has promoted 12 executives in total.
