Starting in Malaysia and not making the effort to go straight to Indonesia is on the verge of blasphemous….
Great job mate.
The portuguese didn't just destroyed religious structures in Melaka, they also enslaved the natives to force them to build their fort.
Sago palm is poisonous, don't eat sago palm.
This is an epic travel video. Very informative and touching too. I now see Nutmeg and Mace as the Spices of Blood.
Hope you will also be able make a similar video on CLoves which is from neraby and also a Spic of Blood. THe Blood of the native people..
Too much soy! The horrible part is the narrator.
I SO TOTALLY expected to be terminally bored within about 2 MINUTES, but I must say: You made something I never use or even think about, and which YouTube-Algorithm-wise, should've never shown up on my screen, very interesting. For this, I have bestowed upon you; a Like, AND a Subscribe! 🧐☝🏼
😉👍🏼
this needs 1+ million viewss
This is probably one of the best documentaries or yt videos I’ve ever watched, seriously. The story is beautifully bittersweet and the effort put into every moment really shines. Thank you for giving me an appreciation of nutmeg, its history, and the resilient people who originally grew this fascinating spice that I’ll never forget 🙂
this is why aliens always visit us, but never land.
Outstanding! Thanks!
You stole my heart, mind, and soul with this video. I was in tears as you showed us the sacred well. My heart aches for the rich cultures that have been lost throughout colonizations from outsiders.
Often, I've heard the misquote, "Money is the root of all evil."
It really says, "The love of money is the root of all evil."
What terrible monsters we can become.
I began to lose interest as it seemed your video was ending. I went online to find nutmeg products you tried. I'm not sure I will like the coffee either!
You roped me back into watching the rest of this when you mentioned fun facts…not so good facts but very enlightening facts. My critical thinking said, "So, here's where it will end. I was sad and hoped the ancedote you would impart would not be superficially trite. You blew me away! You took us on all three trips and captured me.
I was USAF and traveled to many countries, refused to live on base housing, encouraged my son to attend schools in the host countries, and reveled in the cultures we found.
This magnificent, cute, quirky, but outstanding work you have is worthy of more than only a YouTube video. How pleasantly surprised I am to read you are taking to New (Amsterdam) York!
I have subscribed and joined your membership on this viewing and your beautiful respect for the Banda people and history.
Commendable!!!
I'm also a mom and wife and applaud your credit inclusion of yours!
Best to you!
Thank you for this blessing.
Colonialism BAD ✅ …..
i like using Nutmeg…in the winter when its rainy outside
Nutmeg makes you hallucinating , aalfanso Albuquerque my hero
Wow… nearly 2 hours. Amazing.
Albuquerque did nothing wrong. Muslims had been slaughtering and enslaving Christians ever since the bandit created their religion.
I'm sorry but already 12 minutes in there are some great inaccuracies… The thing about using spices to conceal the taste of rotting meat is just not true, and is just something viewers will latch on to because they might have heard of before. But it is really nothing more than an "urban legend" of medieval/renaissance history.
ai art, video discarded and disliked.
Indonesian heee. Thank you for covering this seldom covered subject in gastronomy and history
2 minutes in, at 0200 in the AM, I am here for the duration.
Nice.
Before watching this video, I didn't even think New Jersey was a real place. Knowledge is power as GI Joe used to say.
This is incredible work!
Claymation and stop motion this presentation is beautiful.
Alfonso de Abequerque was just using Islamic techniques to get things done, so not technically terrorism.
@thetownsends
This is an amazing documentary! Thank you!
This is surprisingly well done!! I shed tears hearing about the slaughter of the Wandan people, and I got to see hope through the clearly extant pain within. Yes…"tough mothers".
I've been tyring to find a place that sells nutmeg trees for ages in Australia.
Great job!
banda neira
A very special video, I felt like we discovered their epic story together.
Don't run yourself down mate, you did those people proud!
Let's hope exposure helps them keep their language & concomitant culture.
A truly splendid video!
Jared I cannot believe you travel in doctor martins! they are so uncomfortable for walking!
What an excellent documentary!
Why does this only have 88k views!?! So happy to have found this creator! Definitely subbed; very well put together, informative and visually captivating. I really enjoyed watching you explore! You're so passionate and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
I cant believe it, he went to nam cobanda isle
How long is this video?
1.25 speed sounds way more natural than normal speed. This dude speaks in such a slow and broken way, it’s odd.
I had 2 nutmeg trees here near my house…it must be those banda round nutmeg…it must more than 40 years old trees….
btw…my wife ancestors are from sulawesi near the maluku islands
Malaysian from Perak states…
